Class Reflection

Nina Harris-Alabanza

So far I feel that this class if going relatively well for me. I am happy that I have been able to stay on track of the assignments. One thing that caught me off guard about this class was how short and fast the term is and what that would mean in terms of workload. When thinking about it I thought that it would be a daunting task for me since I work full time and I am not in my usual school setting but rather back at home where there are a lot more distractions. I think that the key to my success is using the free time that i do have to try and complete assignment. I have come up with a goal to to do two assignment a day and to give myself days off where I can relax and catch up on Tv or something along those lines. I think that has allowed me to feel less overwhelmed with all the work.

During the first week of class I found completing all the surveys to be a time consuming and rather tedious and was afraid that much of the course was going to be like that. I am glad that we have shifted away from such things. Although I did learn a lot from those surveys about myself and what careers might be best for me. I have learned from this course not to solely look at jobs that are related to the field of psychology but that I have many skills that can be applied to areas outside of that. I feel that this gave me a newfound excitement when thinking about my life post-college. For example I had been looking into wanting to go in merchandising or being a buyer but was really afraid that i wasn't going to be successful in the field because I didn't have a degree in an that area but when looking into that job for my powerpoint presentation I saw that some of the skills that were suggested for the job were ones that I had said that valued when doing the SSI test.
